Nisargshala is an Environment Education Programme for young students.
Our team has always recognised the importance of awareness creation and eco-education. Content that connects people with ecology, biodiversity and surrounding is the first requirement to take eco-education to masses. Nisargshala Manuals
The programme is designed into a set of three books written for teachers and parents. With these guidebooks teachers can conduct activities for school kids of standards 5th, 6th and 7th. Each book has about 50 activities. The activities are designed based on the seasons and have both class room and on field modules.
The programme is designed based on the “Constructivist Approach” in education, which is learning through a spectrum of direct experiences. The children will learn about the various components of nature such as the rivers, mountains, forests, soil, trees, animals, birds, insects etc. through the programme, with a focus on local ecology and biodiversity, through experiential learning. This program also helps develop the creative and interpersonal skills in children. The activities have a particular sequence and can be taken up on every Saturday or once a week.
निसर्गशाळा - मराठी संच
निसर्गशाळा हा तीन पुस्तकांचा संच आहे. या पुस्तकांचा आधार घेऊन कुठल्याही शाळेला ‘पर्यावरणविषयक विशेष कार्यक्रम’ हाती घेता येईल. प्रत्येक पुस्तकात जवळपास ५० उपक्रम आहेत. इयत्ता ५ वी, ६ वी, ७ वी (मुलांचे वय वर्ष १०-१२) साठी हे उपक्रम योजिले आहेत. ही पुस्तके शिक्षक व पालक यांच्यासाठी आहेत, जेणेकरून ते मुलांसाठी हा अभ्यासक्रम राबवू शकतील. यात मुलांना निसर्गातील नदी, डोंगर, माती, झाडं, पशू-पक्षी, किटकादी विविध घटकांची ओळख व्हावी, त्यांचं महत्त्व कळावं तसंच त्यांची जोपासना करणं का आवश्यक आहे, ती कशी करावी हे उपक्रमांच्या माध्यमातून स्वानुभवाने कळेल. ग्राममंगल या संस्थेच्या मार्गदर्शनाखाली, रचनावादी तत्वावर हे उपक्रम आधारलेले आहेत. यात मुले प्रत्यक्ष अनुभूती घेऊन त्या उपक्रमाची मजा घेत शिकतात. या पुस्तकाचा आधार घेऊन असे उपक्रम काही शाळांमध्ये राबवले जात आहेत. त्याला मुलांचा छान प्रतिसाद मिळतो आहे.
या अभ्यासक्रमाच्या ‘तयारीसाठी’ व ‘संशोधनासाठी’ महाराष्ट्र शासनाच्या पर्यावरण विभागाच्या ‘हरित संकल्पना’ योजनेचे आर्थिक साह्य ऑयकॉसला लाभले. या प्रकल्पांतर्गत तयार झालेली पुस्तकांची पहिली डिजिटल आवृत्ती २०१६-१७ मध्ये प्रकाशित करण्यात आली होती; तर दुसरी प्रिंट आवृत्ती डायमंड पब्लिकेशन्स १८ सप्टेंबर २०२२ रोजी प्रकाशित झाली.

NisargaShala - English Set
Nisragshala is a set of three books. Any school can organise a 'Special Environmental Program' with help of these books. Every book has close to 50 activities. The activities are for students in Grade 5, 6 and 7 (age 10 to 12). The books are mainly for teachers and parents, who can implement this curriculum. Through activities and self learning, the students will learn about various aspects of nature such as rivers, hills, soil, trees, animals, birds and insects. The activities are based on constructivism under the guidance of Grammangal. In this methodology, students enjoy the activities through direct experience.
The Marathi set of books were financially supported by Maharashtra Government and several schools are implementing programs using these books.
Presently, as a CSR initiative of Expo Freight Private Limited, these manuals are being translated into English with geographical focus as entire India and once complete, it will be useful for schools in all states.

NisargaShala Sessions
Our team conducted in person as well as online sessions for kids.
A set of 6 sessions was conducted under sponsorship of Rotary club of Poona west in village schools of Pirangut, Paud, Sus, and Nande during 2019. A group of 30-40 students from each school attended these sessions, 1 session per month. As a part of this program an exhibition of work done during the sessions was put up for parents, teachers & villagers at the end.
Online Nisargshala sessions were conducted during the lockdown period, during July-August 2020. A set of 10 sessions was designed specifically to look around the house and locality considering the restriction on movement during that time. It was conducted in two batches - Marathi & English, separately to suit language preferences by kids. Some 45 kids of age group 10-12 attended these sessions.
Trainer’s orientation workshop : A two day workshop for teachers of schools Pirangut, Paud, Sus, and Nande was conducted during 2019 which was sponsored by Rotary club of Poona west. About 20 teachers attended this to understand basics of ecology, about Nisargshala manuals and ways to conduct it in their own capacity.
